Our four pups thrown over the fence into the shelter.
 - NOW ADOPTED

It's a fairly common occurrence finding puppies and dogs abandoned outside the shelter and whilst it's upsetting it's some consolation to think the person leaving them wanted Stavroula to help them. It's an entirely different situation to walk into an area where two full grown adult dogs live and find someone has thrown four tiny puppies over a high fence, walked away and left them to their fate.
It's a huge credit to Albie and Maggi that these babies were still alive when Stavroula arrived at their enclosure to find not the two dogs she left, but six!

Four puppies were dumped in dreadful condition with very nasty sores covering their skin. Worse is that Hattie was seen to be limping very badly and we now know she had a broken leg, it's quite likely this happened when they were thrown over the 3M high fence that surrounds the shelter! All four pups had Mange and were showing signs of malnutrition and just being very badly treated at the start of their lives.

So many people donated to help save these pups, special thanks go to the London and Surrey Vizsla group for raising a fabulous £489 to choose Rocky's name. Three more of our amazing supporters covered the cost of puppy vaccinations for the other three pups, thank you to Mary for choosing Hattie's name, Claudia for naming Lilly and Sandy for giving Micky his name.

The very sad news is both Rocky and his sister Lilly succumbed to distemper a few weeks after we saved them. Being so young and having such a bad start in life meant their little bodies just couldn't cope with this awful disease and although we tried as much as we could in the end we had to put them to rest.

Hattie and Micky continue to improve and grow and both will be looking for their forever homes very soon.
